It is not very uncommon that famous persons, be it athletes, pop stars or actors, register their name as a trademark. Not only does this give them the opportunity to merchandise the hell out of their fame, it also provides a powerful tool against misuse of their name.
But fresh parents Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z have now trademarked their daughter’s name. From now on the little girl goes by Blue Ivy Carter®.
This prevents any third party to be able to use the baby’s name for, amongst others, cosmetics, video games, baby carriages and strollers, jewelry, watches, books, bags, glassware, clothing, hair accessories, toys and entertainment services.
It seems like a smart move.
