Banksy – a pseudonymous for a UK-based graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter – has become rapidly well known for his satirical street art and subversive epigrams that combine dark humour with graffiti done in a distinctive stencilling technique.
In galleries Banksy’s art is trading owners for tens- and hundreds of thousands of euros. But on the streets prices and demand are way down.
An old man in a New York City street is selling ‘counterfeit’ Bansky-art. Earnings after a whole day: $420,-. A big contrast to the real thing. But not too bad. It’s like selling fake Louis Vuitton bags, but more artsy. Well, at least it’s fun to look at.
Fake Banksy-art: $420. Grateful fake-art salesman: priceless!
