Sherri Hill Inc., a Texas-based fashion label, has gone to court to stop a counterfeiter that is selling flimsy copies of its high-end beauty-pageant gowns. But there’s more to the story. Sherri Hill claims the knockoffs add pounds when you wear them!
One particular knockoff, sold for $177 by Manhattan-based Merle Dress, is made in such a way that it “makes the customers appear heavier around the waist and hips, is uncomfortable to wear, and has shoddy materials and poor craftsmanship”, according to Sherri Hill. The real thing is $450 at least, and it is definitely more flattering.
So, beware ladies, before buying that designer knockoff for that special gala dinner. You may end up being the talk of the town. And not in a good way.
