Kiss-frontman Gene Simmons wants to trademark the band’s signature hand gesture.
Simmons wants to apply for a trademark of the ‘sign of the horns’, the hand gesture with the pink and forefinger stung up. A hand gesture the 80s band is famous for.
“It’s my gesture”, the lead singer says. According to Simmons he used the sign for the first time in November 1974 during Kiss’ Hotter Than Hell Tour. With its application, Simmons submitted a drawing of the hand gesture.
It remains the question whether the US Patent and Trademark Office will accept the application, and considers it to be a valid trademark.
Another question: how original is it? It appears Simmons is not the only one (see here).
