Have the cake and eat it

Have the cake and eat itDutch diet guru Sonja Bakker has been accused of plagiarism. Some of her diet tips have allegedly been copied.
The case isn’t new, but has been dragging on for almost ten years. Food coach Bea Pols accused Bakker back in 2006. Allegedly, Bakker had copied 20 sentences from Pols’ book in her own diet book.
Pols wrote in 2003 (translated): “Would you like to lose a lot weight and would you rather save money for an expensive gift like new clothes, a treatment at the beautician, an evening out to the sauna or the movies, you can agree with yourself to put a certain amount of money in a jar for each pound you loose.”
Only two years later Bakker wrote (translated): “Would you like to lose a lot weight and would you rather save money for an expensive gift, such as a treatment at the beautician or new clothes, then you can agree a certain amount with yourself for each pound you loose.”
Bakker claims that Pols is the one that has been copying, namely old course materials from Bakker.
The case had been put to rest by Pols, until she was ready to launch her new book in 2014 “Dieting with Bea is a party”. Pols overheard that Bakker was planning to launch a book named “Dieting is a party”. Bakker ended up amending the title, but never admitted to copyright infringement.
Perhaps you can have the cake and eat it. Depending on the calories of course.
