I Will-ful infringement

Yesterday, sports Clothing, Athletic Shoes & Accessories company Under Armour, filed a law suit against Nike, alleging trademark infringement. The centre of the suit is Under Armour’s slogan in its new marketing campaign: “I Will”.

Under Armour states that Nike has launched an advertising campaign – for sporting goods as well –  that makes use of the phrase ‘I Will’ prominently, repeatedly, and in a format and context that imitates Under Armour’s longstanding use of its iconic I WILL trademark/tagline for these same types of products and services.

It is a law suit by David against Goliath; Under Armour’s last year revenues were $1.8 billion. Nike’s were $25 billion.“We prefer to battle our competitors in the marketplace and on the field of play,” Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank stated.

See hereunder some examples of Nike’s and Under Armour’s use of “I Will”.
