Saks Fifth Avenue - Snacks 5th Avenchew02Luxury doggy treats, sold under the name Snaks 5th Avenchew. Funny? Well, not according to luxury retailer Saks Fifth Avenue.

“I didn’t think it will run into any issues, because there are so many parodies out there,” Carrie Sarabella said. The owner of Snaks 5th Avenchew mentioned dog boutiques Bloomingtails and Sniffany & Co. that, according to her, operate without any problems. But Saks & Company was not laughing, and put their IP lawyers on the case.

She started making the snacks for her own dog, but it became a near instant hit amongst friends. Sarabella sells organic doggie snacks like ‘Mini Pup Cakes’ and ‘Puptato chips’, and isn’t ready just give up ‘her’ name.

Saks Fifth Avenue is very eager on protecting their reputable name, and do not wish to be associated with dog food. Even if it is luxury dog food.

The ultimatum that Saks has given has meanwhile expired. We are very curious what’s going to happen next. Is the luxury dog treats maker going to roll over? We’ll keep you posted.
