King for a Day

Fotosessie Koninlijkhuis Robin Utrecht FotografieSince last year we, the Dutch, no longer have a Queen. We have a King. And this calls for new trademarks!

Queen’s day, the legendary Dutch national holiday On April 30th, where everyone dresses and parties in orange, and parties, has been replaced by King’s Day. And it’s tomorrow, four days earlier than the original Queen’s Day (for all of you who wanted to visit Holland for that specific reason).

King’s Day is a day where people clean out their attics and garages, to sell their junk to others who just cleaned out their attics and garages. It calls out the entrepreneur in everyone. This is also reflected in the Benelux trademark register.

Since Queen’s Day turned into King’s Day, we have noticed a large number of ‘king-related’ trademarks, such as SLAM!KONINGSDAG (translates to: SLAM!KING’S DAY) for ‘events’, the trademark KONING (translates to: ‘king’) for advertisement. Everyone want to get their piece. Maybe licence their trademark to collect royalties (pun intended), to sell out all their junk, and be king for a day.
