Better preventing an infringement than fighting the results of it. This applies to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and the producers of James Bond. They have taken NBC Universal Media LLC to court after they had read the screenplay of a movie that is now in development. According to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayerand and the producers, this screenplay is a obvious infringement of their copyright of the 007 James Bond character:
“This lawsuit concerns a motion picture project, in active development, featuring a daring, tuxedo-clad British agent, employed by ‘His Majesty’s Secret Service,’ with a ‘license to kill’ and a 00, double-0, secret agent on a mission to save England,” Danjaq LLC, the producers, and MGM said in a redacted complaint filed April 3 in federal court in Los Angeles.”
A movie about a secret agent is not that special, but frankly all these ingredients do recall a certain kind of movie.
