Remember that Olympic ring snowflake that didn’t open at the Sochi Opening Ceremony? A Russian entrepreneur now wants to claim it.
Dmitry Medvedev – not related to the prime minister – applied for a trademark registration of the four rings with one malfunctioning ring.
Medvedev’s company specializes in the construction of luxury cottages and pools, and has already started an advertising campaign using the symbol.
MarkMatters.com noted many times before that the Olympic Committee is very keen on attacking anyone using the Olympic logo, flag or any other Olympic symbol. In their eyes four rings may as well be five. We therefore expect that Mr. Medvedev will receive a cease and desist letter very soon.
