Of course, it is a brilliant job for an artist: a statue of 9 meter of Nelson Mandela in order to honor him. On the other side, a job with a lot of stress: the statue had to be finished within a few days.
The (two) artist succeeded. Unfortunately for the artists they weren’t allowed to put their names on the statue. A bit sad because they won’t get the credits for the making of the statue. Problems stimulate creativity. To refer to the rush job but also to use a trademark for the artists, they have hidden a rabbit in Mandela’s ear (a rabbit is similar to a haas (hare) in Dutch and this word resembles haast (haste)).
The South African government has now asked the artists to remove the rabbit. Somehow we can understand that a rabbit should not be in the ear of Mandela, on the other hand, we quite like this out of the ordinary trademark. And meanwhile, the action achieved its goal: world fame!
