Bare Essentials is a book by Dutch designer Dennis de Groot showing images of famous American pop-icons reduced into the most basic simple geometric shapes. This book consists of 50 little work of arts, the most still recognizable.
The question arises whether these images still fall within the definition of the reproduction of copyright or whether these images concern new and original works. In our opinion the latter would be the case as the influence on the creation of these images of Dennis de Groot is clear. It is a different reproduction of an existing image. Of course, anyone who disagrees is invited to share his or her opinion.
