No Wonder

no wonderFast food chain Whataburger is fighting superhero comic company DC Comics over the Wonder Woman logo. Can an ordinary company beat a superhero?
DC Comics has applied to register the trademark for Wonder Woman logo for many products categories, amongst which ‘cosmetics’ and ‘clothing’.
Whataburger opened its first restaurant in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. The chain now consists of over 735 Whataburger restaurant across the Southern United States region. Now the company has stated that it fears confusion of its corporate logo with the Wonder Woman logo.
DC Comics isn’t the only one under attack though. Whataburger seems to have raised complaints against multiple ‘what’-trademarks, like: WHATAHEY, WHAT A CROCK MEALS TO GO!, WHATAMELON, WHAT’S UP BURGER, WOW! WHAT A PIZZA!, WHAT A PICKLE!, WHATADOG and many others.
Fighting a superhero takes a lot of guts. Particularly in a case like this, where the products of services are not likely to be confused.
