Rising Star

Will Darth Vader compete with Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse in order to conquer the supremacy of the universe? Everything is possible after the major deal between Disney and Lucasfilm. And at first sight, this huge acquisition  is worth every dollar.

Why? Well Disney is of course, more than anyone else, specialised in marketing of consumer-products business (a $3 billion of sales in 2011) and and film-inspired amusement park rides. And with the new Star Wars trilogy starting in 2015 the billions will probably be earned back very soon.

A heavy duty for the trademark department of Disney is to assess the trademark rights in comparison with the plan (are the trademark sufficiently covered? With a European trademark of STAR WARS in 16 classes (from cosmetics to food you would think so).
