Safe shopping

December is coming up. And that means gift shopping. Internet gift shopping! The Dutch customs are warning people to be aware of the danger of buying gifts for your loved ones online.

The end of the year always shows a massive increase in online shopping. These shopping sprees aren’t always on well known and safe website. It is not unlikely that products are purchased from websites from outside the buyer’s country.

When you buy your gift online, and it turns out to be counterfeit, you should realize that the customs can detain the goods. This is of course a waste of money, but – even worse – you can stand there empty-handed before your mam, dad, girlfriend or boyfriend.

Also, you should note that buying stuff form outside your home country, can mean you have to pay additional VAT.

Beware of what you buy and where you buy it. And keep in mind the #1 shopping rule: if it seems too good to be true, it most likely is.

Happy shopping!
