Big “fake” news this week. A blog from an expat living in China was reporting on a fake Apple store. This person was happy to see that Apple had opened a store in her neighborhood. But was it Apple? “The store had the classic Apple store winding staircase and weird upstairs sitting area. The employees were even wearing those blue t-shirts with the chunky Apple name tags around their necks.”
As it turns out, Apple has no stores in Kunming, the city where the expat lives. The store is a rip-off, (but a brilliant one according to the writer). As it seems “some things were just not right: the stairs were poorly made. The walls hadn’t been painted properly.” And Apple never writes “Apple Store” on it’s stores, but just puts its logo.
If you ever been in Asia you always wonder whether the store is genuine or not. This one was pretty good: even the people who worked in this store believed it was a genuine Apple Store.
As it seems now in several countries in the world like Costa Rica and Vietnam there are fake Apple Stores.
