And another one: a Starbucks trademark infringement. But this time the infringer may bark and bite. Starbarks, a local dog daycare center in Algonquin (USA) is using a logo that rather resembles the famous coffee franchise.
Just one month after opening in March, Starbarks owner, Andrea McCarthy-Grzybek, received a cease and desist letter from Starbucks, requesting her to change her business’ name, logo and website.
“It’s a big, huge financial burden,” McCarthy-Grzybek stated in an interview. “It’s not like I’m making any money. I’m paying for my property here.”
MarkMatters.com take on this: “Yeah right, huge burden. McCarthy-Grzybek should have thought of that before blatantly copying a famous logo. Come on!”
Maybe it’s a dog owner’s thing. Before Starbarks there were similar doggy-related trademark infringement, amongst others the infamous “Chewy Vuitton”.
