Sue-perman

powComic book giants Marvel and DC are being accused of threatening small firms over using the word ‘superhero’, because they registered it as a trademark.

Marvel and DC have joined (super?)forces against British entrepreneur Graham Jules, who has written “Business Zero To Superhero”, a book  about how to set up a small firm. His attempt to register a trademark has been opposed by Marvel and DC. Jules is confident: “As far as I can see, the word superhero was first used in about 1917, before Marvel or DC even existed.”

But Jules is not the only one being under legal attack: Daniel Herman, founder of British diet supplements firm Bio-Synergy has registered the phrase ‘Fuel the super-hero inside’, has heard from Marvel’s and DC’s lawyers.

Marvel’s/DC’s lawyer Jonathan Reichman, denied bullying small firms and insists that the law required his client’s to defend their trademark whenever anyone else tried to register it: ‘We recognise that people use the word superhero in the English language. Its only when people try to register it as a brand that we take action. We are not just beating up on the small guys”

And all this time we thought superhero’s were out to save the people. So Superman, is really Sue-perman.
